Chapter One :Chapter 1

When Sophia Finch’s consciousness returned after her fall, shock hit her hard.

She was supposed to be dead—yet here she was, alive again.

More than that, she’d been reborn into the womb… a fetus not yet born.

Curled up in a soft warmth, she floated in amniotic fluid that soothed her right to the bone. But what caught her off guard was—she wasn’t alone.

Another little form was curled beside her, eyes closed. Just one quick scan with her divine sense told her—yep, definitely a boy. Her twin brother.

The realization of being reborn already thrilled her, but what truly stunned her was the abundance of spiritual energy. Even inside the womb, she could feel it—thick, vivid, flowing from everywhere.

This world wasn’t like the dried-up realm she'd died in. Here, spirit power was rich—limitless almost.

But she hit her first hurdle right away.

Her twin was ravenous, sucking down all the vital essence from their mother's body at a crazy rate. Soon enough, she felt it—her own vitality fading fast.

She probed again with her divine sense and nearly cursed aloud. Her brother’s body… twice her size already!

Little beast was trying to devour her alive.Obviously, that little brother wasn’t just taking nutrients—he was guzzling down her life force too. If she hadn’t returned, this punk probably would've swallowed her whole in a few days, turning this pair of twins into a solo act.

Feeling her vitality slipping away, Sophia Finch's heart sank. Just came back from the dead, and she was already in a mess like this. Not exactly the welcome party she expected.

The little brat beside her was getting bolder, sucking harder, even kicking around like he was having the time of his life.

Was this something to put up with?

Hell no!

Sophia threw a solid kick to his damn face, then started hammering on his leg with her tiny fists.

Strike first, that’s the rule for little brothers!

The boy froze, stunned by the beating, his feed interrupted. Sophia seized the chance to take in some much-needed energy. But not for long—he shook it off and came at it again.

Damn it! This greedy brat needs a beating!

Muttering curses in her heart, she kept pounding on him.

Every time he tried leeching her again, she gave him a taste of her wrath. Fists over words. Eventually, the little guy got the message. Quieted right down, curled up in a corner like a whipped dog, too scared to move.

Only then did Sophia realize—with all the cursing she’d just thrown at him, she’d basically been swearing at herself too. After all, his mom was her mom. Gotta watch the tongue—next time she goes off, she risks dragging herself down too.

If she can’t curse, then she'd stick to the fists. That always worked. After a while, their mother sat cross-legged to meditate, drawing in spiritual energy. It flowed steadily into her womb, split between the two unborn children.

The brother tried to hog it all again, just like before.

If he wanted to fight for nutrients and now spiritual energy too, there was no way Sophia Finch would let it slide. Her iron fists of sisterly love came crashing down.

She kicked and punched until her brother curled up again, not daring to make another move. Only then did she stop.

Without wasting a breath, Sophia began absorbing the spiritual energy herself. That brat was already stronger. She had to catch up fast.

As she drew in the energy, she extended her powerful divine sense outward.

She and the troublemaker brother were still nestled inside their mother’s womb. Outside, Grace Finch sat beneath a large tree in the courtyard, meditating.

She felt the stirrings in her belly again and stopped meditating. Gently placing a hand over her abdomen, she whispered softly, “My children… not much longer.”

Ever since the pregnancy, no matter how much spiritual energy she took in, it was devoured completely by the twins in her womb. Her health had gradually declined because of it.

But she didn’t mind. She gave willingly, and with all her heart.Sophia Finch noticed the moment the flow of spiritual energy was cut off. Without hesitation, she tried to absorb it on her own—and to her surprise, it actually worked. Even inside the womb, she could draw in spiritual energy directly! That realization thrilled her. She was like a starving beast finally tasting meat, greedily devouring every wisp of energy she could reach.

A relief like rain in the middle of a drought.

Grace Finch felt something strange too. She gently touched her belly, visibly startled. She’d never heard of an unborn child absorbing spiritual energy independently. What kind of baby were she carrying?

Right then, Sophia sensed someone approaching.

Grace heard the footsteps as well and, filled with warmth, stood up to greet the person, her voice soft and affectionate. “Husband, you’re back! Did you find that herb I asked for? I need it for the birth... Oh, and there’s something about our child—”

She didn’t finish. A man's voice cut her off, cold and steady.

“Grace, you look even weaker today. Have you fallen to Qi Refining Level Three?”

The moment the man appeared, Sophia had locked onto him with her divine sense. He was a handsome man, tall in a simple white robe that couldn’t hide his refined air, even if he carried nothing else. His cultivation was a bit higher than her mother’s—Qi Refining Level Five. Nothing spectacular. So this man... was their father?

But was it just her illusion? From his tone, Sophia Finch didn't hear concern—what she caught instead, sounded more like probing.

Grace Finch gently touched her belly, a soft smile on her tired face. “My cultivation’s dropped to the second layer of Qi Refining,” she said. “But it’s fine. As long as the children are safe. I’ll recover slowly after they’re born—ah!”

She hadn’t even finished her sentence when a scream burst from her lips. Without warning, the man’s hand flashed—sword drawn in a blink, slicing through the air like lightning. A silver gleam tore through the silence, and before she could fully react, the sharp tip of the blade pierced into her shoulder.

Only her last-second dodge saved her heart from being impaled.

He yanked the sword back. Blood sprayed. His brows furrowed, frustration flickering across his face. “Tch. You dodged.”

Grace Finch stared at him in disbelief, her body trembling. She never thought the man she called husband would raise a sword against her. Her lips shook as she murmured, frightened and stunned, “H-Husband… what are you doing?”

Richard Wallis met her gaze, cold and hollow. His voice, flat and indifferent.

“Killing you to ascend my path.”Grace Finch’s pupils shrank in an instant. Her chest tightened—she couldn't believe what she just heard. The gentle man who once lay beside her suddenly became a cold-blooded monster.

Sophia Finch: Damn it!

What kind of brainless idiot tries to “ascend the Dao” by murdering his own wife? That nonsense Unfeeling Path again. And the worst part—this bastard was only at the fifth level of Qi Refinement! What kind of "ascension" was he even talking about? Couldn’t be more useless.

Grace Finch’s face turned deathly pale. Pain and hatred burned in her chest. She clutched her bleeding shoulder and staggered back. “Richard Wallis! I’m carrying your child! How could you—how could you be this vile?!”

Richard Wallis didn't even flinch at her scream. His voice was calm, even detached. “Only by killing the one I love, cutting all attachments, can I truly step into my Dao—the Unfeeling Path.”

Son of a bitch.

Sophia was fuming inside the womb, cursing him a hundred times over. This bastard dad didn’t even understand the real core of the Unfeeling Path. Still dared to spout such crap?

He'd be better off rotting in the ground.
